Problem: Missing my Grandkids Solution: FaceTime

Sometime last year my daughter and her family moved from being close to us to several hours away.  It was a good opprortunity for her husband and good for them them to be more out on their own, but it was bad that they took our grandkids with them.  We love our grandkids.  We love spending time with them and spoiling them.  We missed them now that we don’t see them every day.

I have had an iPhone4 for a while, but no one else in my family did.  I solved that problem with upgrades in all the stockings.  I know they were all glad for the new phones and I was glad to be able to use FaceTime with them all, especially with my grandkids.

They were not with us on Christmas day, but we got a to visit with them an my grandson showed us all the presents Santa left him under the tree.  He already loves the iPhone at 2 1/2 years.  He loves it more now that Grandma and Grandad are on it. (I think he actually got my daughters old iPhone in his stocking since it had all his games on it.)

FaceTime works pretty well.  It was certainly easy to do.  Where my daughter lives they don’t have good Internet connections so she uses Verizon’s MiFi and FaceTime worked well over that connection.  It would be nice if you could use it over the 3G connection. My grandson does not stand still, so he was a blur some of the time, but that is often how it seems when he is here live.   He also has not learned to be the best camera man, so we got quite a few shots of the ceiling and his fee.  But for us it was great seeing them live and well worth the investment of the upgrades.  Especially since part of the deal was they had to FaceTime with us often.

The iPhone continues to amaze me and I am looking forward to seeing my Grandkids often again.
