I want to tweet when I am away from my desk. Now that I seem through Twitter to have to keep up with the thoughts of thousand and constantly share my thoughts with the masses, I wouldn’t want to miss out on something just because I am not at my computer. Aha! I have an iPhone (which seems to be the solution to all problems) so surely I can access Twitter from it. Of course, there is an iPhone app for that (There seems to be an iPhone app for everything.)
Since this is a new problem for me, it is hard to have a good understanding of it. Since I hadn’t used Twitter much, it was hard to know what I would want from an iPhone app for Twitter. I knew that I would need to view tweets from those I am following, send tweets, reply to tweets, and all the standard stuff. But after using a few iPhone twitter apps, I found there were other things that I needed like being able to view my friends list and using multiple Twitter accounts. I found Tweetie as the solution to this problem. It can do these things and more.
Tweetie is an iPhone app you can by from the app store for $2.50. Yes, there are some free twitter apps and some of them like TwitterFon are not bad. But I found Tweetie the best for me. So far the only thing I can’t do is see how many people are following me (You should follow me .) With Tweetie you can send and view tweets or send replies and DMs. I found there are lots of things you can do and will want to do. You can click on any link in tweets and view the web page they link to or click on a user and view their profile. You can also see tweets from around your location (using the iPhone GPS or location function) , current trend key words or search on your own. You can also do this for multiple Twitter accounts, which is nice. I found the user interface is pretty easy to use.
Tweetie solved the tweeting from my iPhone problem for me. What did you use to solve your “twitter when you are away from you computer” problem? Maybe you have found a better solution.
