If you you use Twitter, then you must already use TweetDeck. (My review and Mashable’s reivew) It is a great tool to help you view and keep track of tweets on different topics. I was at a WordCamp meeting in Dallas and one of the presenters was showing off TweetDeck. I was amazed at the number of people that didn’t know about it. Now all the great functions of TweetDeck are available on my iPhone – just awesome!
When I downloaded the new TweetDeck app for iPhone, it directed me set to up an account on their server (so I can sync the columns in my desktop TweetDeck with my iPhone – what a great idea). I got it running and couldn’t believe at how well it worked. I had columns for my Friends, Groups, Replies, direct messages and searches, all in an easy to use iPhone app. I have used several iPhone Twitter apps and none of them are close to this good.
The TweetDeck iPhone app does have a few glitches. I had a few screens that didn’t refresh correctly, but a page to the left and then back usually fixed that. The biggest problem I had was following the links in a tweet. The app displays the linked-to page in the TweetDeck app. This is good because it keeps you in TweetDeck app for easy navigation back to tweets, but it caused problems because I could can take other links on the page. I also found some display problems.
Overall, this is a great addition to my iPhone and makes following tweets on different subjects much easier. Syncing with my TweetDeck desktop columns is pretty neat (I had to upgrade my desktop app to do this). I am excited about using Twitter on the move.
Have you tried it yet? What did you think?
