My Dad used to teach preachers how to preach. One of the things he always told them to do was to imagine a big sign at the back of the church that said “So What?” Meaning make sure what you are preaching about applies to the lives and problems of those that are listening. That is also what we should ask about technology.
The rate of creation of new technologies is amazing. We all see announcements of new technology every day. Actually, it seems like every minute. But none of these new solutions does you or your business any good if you don’t actually use it. If you don’t apply the technology to some problem in your world, it doesn’t really help you. So when you hear about the next new technology, ask “So What? What can it do for me or my business?”
That is what I do every day. I find ways to solve problems using technology for my business and for the people I know. Sometimes that means using some Internet technology to promote a non-profit organization or finding a ways to help 1000′s of consultants easily submit travel expense and still meet the IRS guidelines.
I want to help you think about how to answer the “So What?” I hope that reading the things I share here will help you solve your problems with technologies.
