Twitter Solutions

Seven Tools I use with Twitter

Having the right tools makes many tasks much easier.   What are the right tools to help make using Twitter easy?  If you read my blog you know I am big on understanding the problem before you find the solutions.  So here are the problems my company and I are facing when using Twitter:

  • Getting our team all signed up on Twitter and getting the accounts set up with all the info needed.
  • Managing multiple Twitter accounts. We have multiple accounts for our company and then we have accounts for each member of our team.  Some of us tweet on our own and some need some help.
  • Easily participation in the Twitterverse.  We are listening on certain subjects and tweeting regularly.
  • Tweeting on a regular basis.  We want to participate regularly, but we do have jobs.
  • Keeping up with those that follow us.  Knowing who that are and following if we thing we should.
  • Evaluating if we are doing a good job using Twitter.

So hear are seven tools that we are using in my business, MBO Partners. (read my blog on how we are using Twitter)

  1. Twitter - We use the Twitter site to setup accounts.  There are several things you should do to set up a twitter account. I also find the Twitter site a good place to search for tweets on subject and find people to follow that tweet on subjects we are interested in or that follow people that tweet on subjects we are interested in.
  2. TweetDeck - Several of use us TweetDeck to do the bulk for our listening and following.  I have it open on my desk all the time and try to keep up with those I follow and the subjects that I am listening to. (Read my post on TweetDeck)
  3. Twellow - Twellow is a place to register as a Twitter user that lets you be cauterized as a Twitter user. It can help people find you and help you find others to follow.
  4. Hootsuite - Hootsuite helps you manage and tweet from multiple Twitter accounts.  If you
  5. TweetLater - When someone follows you you can use TweetLater to follow them back or unfollow them when unfollow you.  It lets you manage multiple accounts and provides lots more functions including scheduling tweets in the future.
  6. Tweetie – An iPhone app that lets you view tweets and lets you tweet from your iPhone.   It is especially good if you have multiple accounts.  If you are going to tweet a lot then doing it from the road is a must. (read my post on Tweetie)
  7. Twitter Grader- We all like feed back on how we are doing.  Twitter Grader gives you an idea on how you stack up with the Tweeple in the Twitterverse.  You enter your Twiiter id and it gives you grade on a scale of  1 to 100.  It also lets you see a list of those with the top grade in your city  or state.  It is fun to watch your grade go up.

These tools have been helpful to us. They are what we are using today. There are lots of  Twitter tools for doing things we have not tried yet and there are new tools showing up all the time so keep you eyes open to new tools.  Take the time to check them out.

What tools do you use that help you solve the problem of using Twitter effectively?
